Homemade Mosquito Repellent
I’m sure that most of you know by now that mosquito season is officially here. Here are some great natural mosquito repellents that really do work!
Homemade Mosquito Repellent
Natural Mosquito Repellent Number One: To make this organic mosquito repellent, you will need 2 tablespoons sweet almond oil, 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel, and 25 drops of Lemon Balm (Citronella) essential oil.
Combine all ingredients in a jar and shake it really good. You can leave the mixture directly in the jar and just dab a few drops on to your skin or you can pour it in a misting spray bottle, and spray onto your skin.
Natural Mosquito Repellent Number Two: To make this organic mosquito repellent, you will need 1 cup of 190 proof grain alcohol, 1 teaspoon Lemon essential oil, 1 teaspoon Rosemary essential oil and ½ teaspoon Lemon Balm (Citronella) essential oil.
Put all ingredients into a jar, and shake well. Dab onto skin, or pour into a misting bottle and spray on.

Homemade Fabric Softener
Stop spending money on store/brand name fabric softener. Here is a recipe to make your own, and it works and smells great too!!! This is made from all natural ingredients, so it is safe for your family and the environment!
What you will need: baking soda, distilled white vinegar, water, essential oil (if you want a fresh scent) and a large container, that holds at least one gallon of fluid. (You can use a large bucket or pot, and once the fabric softener is mixed, transfer it to the container you want to store it in.
Ingredients:
1 cup of baking soda
1 cup of water
6 cups of distilled vinegar
6 cups water (notice I listed water twice)
15 drops of favorite pure essential oil (opptional)
Directions:
Add 1 cup of baking soda to your large container. Then add 1 cup of water to the baking soda. No need to stir to dissolve the baking soda, the next step will do that for you.
Slowly pour in 6 cups of distilled white vinegar. This will cause a chemical reaction with the baking soda, and the mixture will start to fizz. (This is why you need to use a large container.) Let the mixture fizz for a few minutes to dissolve the baking soda.
Now add 6 more cups of water to the mixture. This will stop the fizzing. Stir to all ingredients together.
If you want to add essential oil, you may do so at this time. 10-15 drops of pure essential oil is generally enough to give the fabric softener a pleasant scent.
Pour fabric softener into a clean storage container. If you have left over fabric softener or laundry soap bottles, those will work great for storage of your new fabric softener.
Add 1 cup of your fabric softener to the final rinse of your laundry, just as you would a store bought fabric softener. Now enjoy the fresh scent and the money you are saving!
